After a week in Base Camp, the decision is made to act. With a small break in the weather and time running out -- the team decides to take a chance and push the route above their high point into the broad Western Cwm, leading to the summit of Sepu Kangri.
Under blue skies, the team struggles to Camp 1. The once gentle terrain is now a nightmare of jumbled talus covered with shin deep snow peppered with crotch deep holes. After a night in Camp 1, the team retrieves their cached gear and pushes to Camp 2.
